We’re excited to announce that Shine!, the much-anticipated book from Patrick McDonnell and artist Naoko Stoop, is now available for purchase at the MUTTS Shop.
This vibrant picture book tells the story of a sea star named Hoshi, who longs to live in the sky among the twinkling, faraway stars and colorful planets. Eventually, her friends show her the beauty of her own underwater world — and help her to realize that her shine actually comes from within.
Patrick provided the story and Naoko provided the images for this heartwarming story, which was named by Barnes & Noble as one of April’s Best Picture Books. Naoko also received praise in a recent review from Publishers Weekly, which stated: “… Stoop’s mixed-media artwork adds richness and depth. The many sea creatures, painted on wood grain, are identifiable—scarlet coral, a green crab—and the scenes gain beauty from graded washes of sky and water.”
