If you follow us on social media, you may have received a notification that we recently changed the name of our Facebook page. Yesh, it’s true! What used to be “MUTTS – Patrick McDonnell” is now simply “MUTTS”. But don’t worry! Patrick isn’t going anywhere.

This name change is something Patrick has been considering for awhile, for a couple of reasons. First, and most importantly, he believes animals should be the primary focus of the page. Earl, Mooch, and the rest of the comic strip animals, of course — but also all the real animals with whom we share the planet and our homes, and who inhabit our local shelters. But always animals first, Patrick second. That’s how he prefers it.

Secondly, even though Patrick frequents the page — reads messages, is involved in choosing what to post, and so on — he’s not the one who manages it. It’s a group effort. That’s why you’ll see other members of Team MUTTS chime in on the comment threads or in direct messages from time to time. We don’t want to mislead anyone by giving the impression that Patrick is always the one responding.

The MUTTS community is growing. This makes us SO happy, but it also means we’ve got to make a few adjustments now and then to keep things running smoothly, and to make sure we’re always being as open with our readers as possible.

Thank you for being a member of this community! Any questions? Any feedback about how we can continue to improve? Reach out on Facebook or comment below to let us know. We’d love to hear from you.
