MUTTS Manifesto: Love Animals with Meatless Monday

Uncategorized

Meatless Mondays encourage communities to explore the many benefits of a plant-based diet for one day a week, at the least. MUTTS is happy to join in this popular movement that’s celebrated by people with all types of diets. For some people, Meatless Monday starts as an experiment and later leads to a commitment to vegetarian or vegan lifestyle.

Meatless Monday was popularized by Sid Lerner in association with the John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and founded in 2003 and is now active in 36 countries.

So why adopt a plant-based diet, even just for one day a week? There are loads of benefits:

  • reduce the risk of dementia, arthritis, obesity, high blood pressure and other medical conditions
  • help the environment
  • reduce risk of foodborne illnesses
  • reduce pollution
  • avoid toxic chemicals
  • help reduce famine
  • save money
  • spare animals lives
  • reduce factory farming support
