Thank You and Good Night was recently featured with a review in the Bulletin of the Center for Children’s Books. The book was called “a gem” and is praised for its storytelling as “concise but detailed, and the book’s simplicity, gentle rhythms, and easy patterns make it perfect for bedtime reading.” They also note “McDonnell’s solid but energetic linework gives a certain verve to the trio’s activities, while the watercolors soften the background, creating a warm, joyful feeling that welcomes audiences just as Clement welcomes his friends. The details keep the pictures fresh and original, but never overwhelm the quiet story.”

In addition, The Skunk (illustrated by Patrick) was chosen as one of their 2015 Blue Ribbon books, which “represent what we believe to be the best of the previous year’s literature for youth.”

The Bulletin of the Center for Children’s Books is one of the nation’s leading children’s book review journals for school and public librarians and is based out of the University of Illinois. Founded in 1945, the Bulletin is devoted entirely to the review of current books for children, and provides summaries and evaluations to allow educators and librarians to purchase the books they need.
